Discovering the Peaceful Generation in Ethiopia

By Mission Trip

Written by Team Hally Supporter June Duehring

In March 2020 a group from Gardner Fellowship Bible Church spent 10 days experiencing God’s work in Ethiopia. They held a mini-Vacation Bible School at a school called Peaceful Generation. At this school, children from surrounding tribes – which have historically been in conflict with one another – come together and are taught of Christ’s love for all people.

The team brought suitcases of supplies, including 24 Team Hally Bibles. The kids are then able to return to their tribes and are beacons of peace and hope in their communities. Although time in this area was short, witnessing the huge work of reconciliation that God is doing through Peaceful Generation made an incredible impact on the entire team. The Bibles are used to teach the word of God, and are also their primary textbook for learning English.

Seeing how gratefully the gifts were received was extremely humbling to the team. They prayed that the presence of God’s word in these tribes will continuously promote change in the hearts of these people.

Sending Bibles (and Parker!) to the Philippines

By Mission Trip

Pictured above are Parker and the StuMo team in the Philippines during spring break 2020.

Isaiah 6:8 says, “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am!  Send me!”

Parker Yust will go on staff with the Student Mobilization Ministry (StuMo) beginning this summer and then continue serving on this ministry team in Cebu, Philippines after he completes his support raising, most likely this fall.

He, along, with a team of current StuMo staff from KU and KSU traveled to Cebu over spring break for training, as well as encouragement. Parker was able to leave two Team Hally Bibles with the current staff in the Philippines to be given to some of the native students. His prayer is to distribute many more the next three years as he tells the college students in Cebu the great news of Jesus Christ.

2020 VBS, Mission Trips And Sunday Schools

By Mission Trip

Once again Team Hally would love to partner with local churches by distributing Bibles to children who don’t own their own Bibles.

If your church has a summer Bible program for children, let us know and we can provide Bibles to these precious children. Jesus loves children “but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14 — and so does Team Hally!  Hally loved to read her Bible when she was only nine years old and we would love to have thousands of kiddos reading their Hally Bibles this summer.

Also, as many churches head all over the world on mission trips this summer, Team Hally has English, Spanish and French Bibles that we’d love to send with anyone who is willing to carry God’s Word to other countries.

Finally, many churches find it helpful to have children all reading from the same version of the Bible during Sunday school, so once again, contact us if the Team Hally Bible would be a benefit to your children’s program on Sunday mornings.

Insight from Team Hally Supporter Lilly – While on a Mission Trip in Uganda

By Mission Trip

I was packing my day bag to visit an organization in a small church located in Kampala, Uganda. It was Sunday, and we had just returned from our morning church service which was a dance party with amazing worship music and a phenomenal sermon. I took my Hally Bible out of my bag and placed it on my bed. I thought to myself, I won’t need this any more today, and it will only be extra weight to carry around. But, as soon as I removed it, I felt as if I needed to put it back in my bag. I did return it to my bag, but had no idea why I needed to do that.

We walked through a slum to reach an extremely small room where women often to worship God and fellowship. Each woman went out of her way to shake my hand, give me a hug, and make me feel very welcome. My missions team was sitting on the small “stage” and one by one, we stood up to introduce ourselves and give a small testimony. Our testimonies were followed by more dancing and worship.

After that was over, I felt God telling me I needed to ask Ken, my family’s dear friend who is native to Uganda, if any of the women could read English. Ken found someone and I heard God telling me to get out my Hally Bible and give it to her. So, that is what I did.

Ken showed the Bible to her, read Hally’s story out loud in their language, and then told the woman that the Bible was for her. Immediately, the sweet woman yelled with joy and literally passed out from excitement. All of her friends danced and celebrated with her. She was so incredibly thankful. She hugged me many times and told me over and over how much it meant to her.

Ken later told me that her Bible would be one of very few in the entire village, and that the woman would read it and translate it to everyone else.

In that moment, I understood exactly why Hally had the mission to raise money for Bibles. It made me so happy to have the privilege to do what Hally worked so hard to do.

Shon and Macy Head to Rwanda in March

By Mission Trip

Shon and Macy Yust, along with 35 other members of Spring Hill Grace Community Church are leaving March 7 on a mission trip to an orphanage in Rwanda, Africa.

There, they’ll have the opportunity to interact with and help with a VBS for more than 500 orphans, put a roof on a church building, paint, encourage the local community, and share Christ’s love. The group will take around 100 French and English Bibles to give to the orphans.

Please pray for protection for everyone going. Please also pray that the Bibles get into the hands of the orphans and that these children read of the love and hope God has for them.  Matthew 19:14, “But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
