Snowfall is No Match for Team Hally at K-State Women’s Basketball Game

By K-State Basketball

kstate-jumbo-tronOne morning, a woman was curled up on her couch with a soft fur blanket draped over her lap.The only noise was the flicker of the fire dancing beside her.Her neck was bent in prayer and soft tears dripped down her cheeks as she poured out her heart to the Lord. She silently prayed for the Lord to send the snow she hadn’t seen for much of that winter. Her daughter had loved the snow and sledding. Snowball fights had been her all time favorite — but now her daughter was with Jesus. And so the woman prayed for the quiet, soft winter snow to come.

Fast forward to a week later: a snow storm hit Kansas and Missouri like never before. Piles and piles of snow descended over the wheat fields and countryside, so much so that the branches of trees snapped under the weight. What a blessing from the Lord to show His attentiveness in even the smallest detail of our lives. And He sent the refreshing, pure white blanket of snow the day before the Team Hally K-State women’s basketball game.

On the morning of the Team Hally game, two hundred precious friends and family of the Yust family drove to Manhattan, Kansas to attend the fourth annual K-State women’s basketball game in honor of Hally Yust, whose dream it was to play basketball in college. The Yust family greeted everyone as they arrived at Bramlage Coliseum to watch the game. It was such a great time of fellowship (even though K-State lost); the day was filled with the joy of believers gathering together and encouraging one another.

One of the most encouraging aspects of the whole day was when Team Hally members mingled with the players after the game. At the beginning of the basketball season, everyone from Team Hally was given the opportunity to adopt a player from the team to pray for and write letters to. At this post-game event, they were given the chance to meet the players they were praying for every day. The looks on the Lady Wildcats’ faces when they were told that they were being personally prayed for every day was impactful. The power of prayer is real!

Overall, the Team Hally game was a blessed day, and we can already begin praying for the 2020 basketball game!

Team Hally Makes New Friends at Medical Lodge of Gardner

By Community

Medical Lodge of GardnerTeam Hally volunteers had a new opportunity at the Medical Lodge to sit with one of the residents who had had surgery and needed extra care. Spending two full days there gave several of us the blessing to really get to know not only individual residents better, but also to encourage and visit with staff.

The Medical Lodge of Gardner staff definitely gives love and care to the poor, needy and hurting — above and beyond their normal job descriptions. I was also so proud of our young people from Team Hally, who blessed the residents by reading to them, pushing them in their wheelchairs, bringing batteries for broken radios, playing and singing songs like Amazing Grace, playing cards and bingo, and spending hours simply chatting and loving.

Kari from the Medical Lodge keeps telling us what a blessing we are, but I think we would all agree that we are the ones who are eternally blessed! Please consider joining us as we continue to love on these precious ones!

Your next opportunity to join us is at 2 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14! We are helping the staff with a Valentine’s Sweetheart Dance and party. We will help the residents feel beautiful by putting on makeup, boas, giving them flowers, dancing, building ice cream sundaes, and making a craft.

Please message us on Facebook or email us at teamhally2015@gmail.com if you can join us or are interested in getting involved at the Medical Lodge!

Remembering Jacob Kosowsky

God recently reminded me that “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”  Deuteronomy 29:29

Friday morning, October 18 Shon received a phone call early in the morning from our dear friend Steve Kosowsky that would once again shake our family.  Steve and Sharilyn’s 21 year old son, Jacob, was tragically killed in a car accident during the night. As I sat on my couch trying to process the news, I felt God reminding me once again that He numbers our days and that His plans are definitely not mine. And yet, He is good even in suffering. God didn’t reveal to me why He decided it was time for Jacob’s life on earth to end but He has revealed to me the past two months what an impact this young man made not only on his own family, but also to our family, his friends, and even the world.

Jake was such a gift to all of us! His love and compassion for those around him made many think of him as their best friend. His hugs made everyone feel his love surrounding them. His smile warmed our hearts. His thoughtful words made us see the beauty of the world more clearly. His love for God’s creation inspired us to love and care for the world more. His wisdom made us think more deeply on important subjects of life. His kindness encouraged many hearts.  His love for adventure made memories that will never fade for his family and friends. His life gave us hope, joy, faith and love. Thanking God for the 21 years He chose to put Jacob in our lives.

Please pray for Steve, Sharilyn and Jake’s sister, Mia, as they continue to walk through this difficult journey. Your words of love, hope and encouragement may be sent to our FaceBook page or the Team Hally email.

Look at what God did in 2018!

Vacation Bible Schools

On June 1, 2018 we hadn’t heard from any of our usual Vacation Bible School (VBS) groups or any new ones. So as I write this article to share about the amazing things God did this past summer, it seems like a miracle to me!  We not only had the opportunity to partner with many of the churches we have given Bibles to the past three summers but added several new churches:

  • Heartland Camp 84 Bibles
  • Lenexa Baptist Church 96 Bibles
  • Fellowship Bible Church 36 Bibles
  • Westline Christian Church 36 Bibles
  • Louisburg Baptist Church 72 Bibles
  • LifeSprings 36 Bibles
  • Fontana 48 Bibles
  • Grace Community 36 Bibles
  • Michigan Valley 36 Bibles
  • Countryside 24 Bibles
  • Baldwin United Methodist 84 Bibles
  • Williamsburg 48 Bibles
  • Antioch 36 Bibles

That’s 672 Bibles given out just in our local communities!!!  Thanking God that His Word does go out mightily, allowing us to be used as His instruments to distribute His precious Word!

Other Bible Distribution Opportunities

We have so many exciting opportunities to continue partnerships that started in the past couple of years as well as answered prayers to finally get some Bibles into the hands of orphans in Tanzania.  So thankful that God protected Parker Yust and the Bibles to get them safely there! Also, we are super excited that God opened doors in Florida through our sweet friends the Kosowsky family to distribute both French and English Bibles to this precious church.

  • Brookside Church in Indiana 192 Bibles
  • TCRC in Tanzania 40 Bibles
  • Puerto Rico Mission Trip 40 Bibles
  • Haitian Church in Florida 108 Bibles
  • Mission Southside 60 English Bibles + 48 Spanish Bibles
  • TLC 36 Bibles

Team Hally Verse of the Month – Phillipians 3:14

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

PRESS ON…and Leave No Doubt

By Stephanie Barrett, Hally’s Aunt
A cold, rainy winter day in Kansas sets the stage for the 2017-18 Team Hally game held at KSU’s Bramlage Colliseum in Manhattan, Kansas. KSU, KU and Team Hally fans and supporters made the trek into Manhattan on Saturday, February 24, 2018, anticipating the sunflower state showdown, as they do for all KSU/KU competitions.
