Summer 2022 Highlights from Team Hally

By Bible Project, Community, Dirty Dash, K-State Basketball, Newsletter, Prayer

BIBLES TO OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES

June 1 truly launched our summer distribution of Team Hally Bibles as we took 800 Bibles to Heartland traveling day camps to be given out at over 50 churches in Kansas and Missouri. The staff was so excited to be sharing the Gospel throughout the summer with the children who would be attending their camps.

In addition, over the next six weeks, we also partnered with many churches in the Kansas City area to provide another 800 Bibles to local VBS programs, backyard Bible Clubs, and camps. One local church member said that they had always wanted to provide Bibles for each of their children attending VBS but did not have the funds and that these Bibles are truly a gift from God!

BIBLES AROUND THE NATION

In addition to opening doors locally, God has also provided several opportunities in other states. Pennington Park Church in Indiana has a Backyard Bible Club and it was so exciting to see them ask for 150 Bibles in May and then a month later need another 150! God truly does exceedingly, abundantly more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Then further south God opened up the door in Alabama. Several Bibles were given to McDonald’s employees who had recently heard the Gospel and were beginning a 31-day Bible reading plan to explore their faith. Team Hally loves that God is an individual God who cares about a personal relationship with EACH person! Whether Team Hally gives 1000 Bibles at a big camp or a grandma sends one Bible to her grandchild in another state, God is using it.

BIBLES TO GUATEMALA

At the end of July, a group from Worden Church near Baldwin, Kansas will be headed to Guatemala for a mission trip and 6 Spanish Bibles are headed there also! We would love for you to pray over the individuals who will receive these Bibles and consider if your church has any upcoming mission trips that Team Hally could provide Bibles.

FCA ELITE BASKETBALL CAMP

On Tuesday, July 26 God is truly providing an opportunity to bring together all the things that encompass Team Hally!  Bibles, Basketball, and Believers!  The past few months Team Hally has been given the amazing blessing to partner with Fellowship of Christian Athletes Olathe to give Bibles at several FCA events including this upcoming elite Basketball Camp.  This camp will also include Ayoka Lee and other staff/players from K-State as well as Team Hally family and friends. Truly Hally’s love for Jesus and basketball is brought together in this event. As Psalm 139:13-14 says, we are fearfully and wonderfully made and God truly gives each of us a passion and skills which are meant to be used for God’s glory. Team Hally is providing 100 Bibles this day! Please pray that the Gospel will clearly be given and that many of the young children attending the camp will receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and then be obedient to make disciples of themselves (Matthew 28:19-20).

K-STATE PRAYER PARTNERS

Team Hally is super excited to be partnering once again for the 2022-2023 with the K-State Women’s Basketball Team! Our partnership with K-State began 8 years ago when Hally went to heaven simultaneously as K-State hired a new basketball coach, Jeff Mittie. Neither Coach Mittie nor the Yust family would have ever imagined what God had in store for our two organizations! The partnership started out because the Yust family wanted to honor Hally in two ways:  giving Bibles and supporting Hally’s passion for basketball through a scholarship to the K-State Women’s Basketball program. This relationship has developed into a “family.” Team Hally support the team by attending a women’s basketball game, sending the team and staff cards of encouragement throughout the season, and prayer partners for each player and staff.  The K-State team in turn attends our Dirty Dash, helps run muddy shoes back and forth for the runners, and some of the staff actually run the race! God has continued to grow this partnership in such an encouraging and meaningful way beyond our biggest dreams.

We are putting together the prayer partners for each of the players and staff by August 1!  If you would like to be a part of this impactful ministry please message us by July 28.

EASTER BASKETS FOR HOPE

This month Team Hally put together special Easter baskets for City Union Mission! Founded by Rev. and Mrs.City Union Mission Easter Baskets David Bulkley, one of their primary purposes for beginning this evangelical Christian ministry was for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the hurting and the lost. The Mission’s staff continues in that uncompromising commitment. City Union Mission receives no government support and is not a United Way agency. The Mission depends completely on the gifts of God’s people – individuals, churches, groups, foundations, and businesses who have a heart for the poor and homeless in Kansas City.

2022 TEAM HALLY GAME: ANOTHER WIN FOR K-STATE

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised and his greatness is unsearchable. – Psalms 145:3

What an amazing evening God gave us at Bramlage Coliseum with the K-State Women’s Basketball Team this year! Over 150 Team Hally friends and family gathered to celebrate Hally’s love of basketball and our partnership with the team. It was an exciting game with K-State winning 63-54. The give away this year was clear stadium bags with Team Hally on them! Fans loved them!!! After the game Team Hally was invited to the Shamrock Zone to meet the team and staff and get autographs. Shon Yust (Hally’s daddy) and Coach Mittie gave a few words to the crowd and many opportunities opened up for sharing the Team Hally mission. We are so thankful for the continued support and encouragement of the K-State Women’s Basketball Team and staff!

Once again, the 2022 Team Hally K-State Women’s Basketball fundraiser did not disappoint! The girls played with grit and determination and came away with a WIN. We always take our family and this year our grandchildren brought friends. I heard one of the little boys say “this is so exciting, I have never seen anything like this.” Not only is it a thrill for the kids to be on a college campus, but the reason we go humbles me even much. Each year this game is to celebrate a sweet child, Hally Yust, who left us too soon to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior. But the most beautiful thing about this event is the money it raises to provide Bibles to anyone who does not have one and those who want to learn more about God’s love. Hally loved the Lord, and K-state basketball. What a winning combination! As a k-state grad myself and someone who Loves the Lord, I could not think of a better way to spend a Saturday night! – Tracy Bird

How can a K-State basketball game bring hope? It has been an annual event of Team Hally to attend a K-State Women’s Basketball game for the last 8 years.  Each year many friends, family members, schools, church members, and coworkers all join together as “Team Hally”!  We wear t-shirts signifying our group and a Bible verse, we have a kid tunnel for the team to run through and after the game we have an opportunity to meet the team.

Each year as the Team Hally video plays displaying Hally’s life I can hardly breath watching her on that big screen.  Then the mission of the ministry of giving Bibles and the hope of Jesus Christ reminds me of God working all things for our good and His glory.  This year, I wasn’t in the stands to watch the video, instead I was in a long concession line waiting for popcorn when I heard the Team Hally video music ring through the corridor.  My heart sank as I wanted to be there to once again witness the message of hope proclaimed.

God took this moment to remind me that He is using Hally’s life and death to spread the good news of the gospel and give hope through the Word of God.  This is only possible because in a tragic, devastating circumstance, God works in the hearts of His children to give hope. Hope in suffering.  Hope that is eternal.  Hope that gives life and joy even in the midst of the most difficult events in life.  This hope is being proclaimed to a world looking for answers when life comes crashing in.  God is our hope.  The Team Hally Game gives an answer, a defense for the joy, the hope and the peace because of Christ.
– Heidi Lynch

1 Peter 3:15

“15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;”

BIBLE GIVING HAS A HUGE START IN 2022

January-March have traditionally seen very few opportunities to give Bibles for Team Hally but 2022 is a brand new year!!!  We are thrilled to have already given out over 1,170 Bibles! Several groups that we have given Bibles to in the past requested more Bibles including: Brookside Church in Indianapolis, In His Wakes in Oregon, Hope Outdoors of Missouri, Campus Kids Ministries in Wichita, as well as Bibles given out at the Team Hally game. We love these groups that continue to give out God’s Word faithfully! In addition, we are super excited to have a new opportunity to partner right here in the Kansas City area with a program called Upward Bound basketball.  This organization seems to be a perfect fit for Team Hally with Hally’s love for both basketball as well as the Bible. At the end of their season next week over 500 elementary aged boys and girls will receive their very own Team Hally Bible!

WINTER TESTIMONY: A PERSONAL REFLECTION

By Newsletter

This year has definitely been a time of change in my life. It seems like every single part of my life has changed! I’ve found that just when I think life has changed enough or is going back to normal, something else changes! As most of our normal way of giving bibles was shut down, I decided to start praying that God would show me new opportunities to give bibles and for me to share God’s Word right where I am.

I have the blessing of teaching elementary Spanish at a private school called Mighty Oaks Enrichment Center. Each Christmas I like to give my students a gift, and as I processed through what to give each student, I decided to give each of them a Team Hally Bible. Honestly, I thought the students might not be super excited or that they all had a bible of their own. God really proved me wrong! Almost every student was overjoyed to receive their bible and said they couldn’t wait to read it on their own. Then, one of my fifth graders asked if I would start a bible study with them.

Once again, I wondered how many of my students would truly give up their recess time to do a bible study with their Spanish teacher, but decided I was willing to try! Of course, God had such a perfect plan that I shouldn’t have been surprised when around 25 third through sixth grade students showed up to study Jesus’ parables from Matthew 13. Most of the students are using the Team Hally Bible and it is so helpful to say, “turn to page 1041” and everyone is reading and studying the same version! I’m so excited to see in a few years how God grows these faithful young believers into mature men and women of God!

TEAM HALLY IN 2020

By Newsletter

What an amazing year it has been for Team Hally! God has proven his faithfulness and steadfast love in so many ways to our little ministry team. “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.” Deuteronomy 7:9

As we reflect on the year, it truly is overwhelming to see how God continued to give us abundant opportunities to distribute bibles, to have both our Team Hally game, as well as our annual Dirty Dash, to grow the ministry in new ways using social media, and to answer so many prayers.

As the year began, more than 100 faithful friends and family gathered at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan to cheer on the Kansas State University women’s basketball team for our annual Team Hally game. Each year we try something new for the game and in 2020 we distributed more than 250 beanies to fans, in support of the team, as well as Team Hally. Those hats can still be seen around Hally’s school, as well as at K-State football games! It was also such a joy to have many of the coaches and the team join Team Hally fans after the game for a meal and to cheer on the Chiefs as they won a playoff game! Go Chiefs! God’s continued blessing over our partnership with the KSU women’s basketball team is truly heartwarming!

The opportunities we had to give bibles in 2020 were completely dependent on God and His direction. “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9) Looking back, we could never have imagined the doors that would open and how not having control was actually a much more fulfilling year! As vacation bible school after vacation bible school was cancelled, our prayer team cried out to the Lord for Him to show us how, where, and when to give bibles. The emails, phone calls, and random opportunities came flooding in! As a result, Team Hally has distributed more than 2,000 English bibles, 600 Spanish bibles, and 250 French bibles (which are headed to Haiti). Bibles have gone to the Philippines, Nicaragua, as well as Ethiopia, War Eagle camp in Arkansas, In His Wakes waterski camps, Heartland Camp, Bread of Life ministry, to KSU students, Dream Center, local churches and youth groups, Jenny’s Spanish students at Mighty Oaks, and to our very special bible-giving partner Howard in Indianapolis.

These bibles wouldn’t be possible without the faithful and sacrificial giving of so many! Our annual Dirty Dash not only saw more than 400 runners and spectators, but was also a day of giving! Our goal was $25,000 and we raised more than $30,000. We truly cannot express the depth of our gratitude for everyone who made the Dirty Dash possible this year. In addition, even the KSU women’s basketball team showed their continued support by creating their own fun run in Manhattan to encourage our ministry! I am thanking God for giving us a beautiful day, venue, and opportunity to run for bibles.

Finally, as the year draws to a close, we see how each month as our prayer team gathers to pray over individuals, churches, the K-State women’s basketball team, specific ministry needs, and the ministry in general, that God not only hears our prayers, but delights in answering our prayers. Phil 4:19 has definitely proven true over and over again. We all have been reminded this year that “all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” 1 Peter 1:24-25
